Goal: We aim to promote challenge-led disciplinary and interdisciplinary workshops (i.e., clubes) to solve global and emerging problems. Students can learn essential tools throughout these activities, develop problem-solving skills, get inspired to take action, and empower them to tackle issues with instructors’ guidance. We encourage the participation of instructors who may not previously have considered the applicability of their work to the topic of interest. It is a hybrid model between Clubes Online and the CdeCMx Challenge in 2020.
Overall Structure: 6 weeks (total)
Preparatory course on scientific computing (two weeks): July 17 to August 1. Duration of approx. 10 hours long.
Students will have two weeks to complete it. It will be an online course, asynchronous, and we will provide weekly office hours for students.
Clubes structure (three weeks): Courses August 2-15, Hands-on project August 16-21.
Students will have 2-3 classes per week of at most 3 hours per session for the first two weeks. In the third week, students will have time to work on their project and submit their final challenge.
Final event (one week after completion): A panel of experts will grade the project based on multiple criteria (presentation, technical merit, etc.).
